Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Planning and Construction, the Project Manager (Administrator II) is responsible for managing assigned major and/or minor construction projects, including all aspects of project management during development, planning, design, construction, and final close-out. This position’s duties include but are not limited to: provide on-site construction administration and general review; coordinate the construction inspectors, and coordinate inspection, final acceptance, and scheduling of occupancy; monitor overall budget and schedule; develop initial programs, project scopes, cost estimates and schedules; conduct solicitation for design professionals and obtain executed agreements for design services and support professional services agreements; schedule and make initial schematic design presentation with the CSU Chancellor’s Office; and oversee development of bid documents and project solicitation.

FLSA MPP - This position is defined in the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) of the California State University. It is excluded from the collective bargaining process and is exempt from overtime provisions of FLSA. This position is covered by health benefits.

Department Information

Facilities Management is the steward for the University buildings, infrastructure, grounds and landscape. We perform maintenance and renovation to facilities, plan and manage new building construction and support the Redefine the Possible initiative through our commitment to building a welcoming campus and by creating a dynamic physical environment for students, faculty, staff, and the community.

Planning, Design and Construction Services: Our responsibilities include master planning, capital planning, design & capital project management for the University.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.

2. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the area of construction and/or building project management.
3. Experience with monitoring project budgets and timelines.
4. Experience administering and reviewing contracts and ensuring compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
5. Experience in successfully managing and coordinating contracts.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
6. Strong communication skills.
7. Ability to manage and direct contractors/sub-contractors.
8. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications

9. Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or other related field from an accredited university.
10. Professional Licensed Architect and/or Professional Engineer
11. Knowledge of California Building Standard Codes and construction laws
12. Experience managing major and/or minor construction projects.
13. Experience in successfully managing multiple, concurrent projects.
14. Knowledge of California Public Works project management.
15. Experience managing projects for California State University, State of California, University of California, California Community Colleges, or local governments or special districts in California.
16. Inspection Certifications from: Division of State Architect (DSA), Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD), and/or International Code Council (ICC)
17. Accredited Asbestos Professional
18. Certified Access Specialist (CASp)
