Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Athletic Compliance Director, the incumbent is responsible for assessing, formulating and evaluating the impact of implemented policies and procedures set forth by the University, NCAA and other involved constituents as it applies to the Athletic Compliance program. The incumbent assists the Director with the monitoring rules education systems and facilitation of the Athletic Compliance program.

FLSA Exempt - This position is covered by health benefits, and is exempt, (not eligible for overtime compensation) according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.

· Promoting a culture of compliance through open lines of communication;
· Providing a comprehensive rules education program within the Athletics Department, campus, and community;
· Continually evolving, by establishing monitoring techniques and best practices to protect the integrity of the University, and the student-athletes, coaches and staff;
· Discovering and reporting any rule violations that may occur.
It is the responsibility of every individual within the Athletics Department to maintain competency in the knowledge of rules, to act within his or her realm of responsibility in full compliance with the rules and to report any rule violations.

It is the responsibility of the Athletics Compliance Office to provide educational programs to ensure that all members of the Department have the tools necessary to remain compliant. The Athletics Compliance Office reminds everyone to Ask Before You Act.

Minimum Qualifications

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Required Qualifications

1. Experience handling compliance concerns, such as within the University setting and the general public

2. Working knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules, interpretations and waivers (i.e. Division I or Division II)
3. Highly developed problem-solving skills, with demonstrated sound judgment evaluating, interpreting and applying policies and procedures with complex compliance problems, including pertinent laws and regulations
4. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills and effective listening skills
5. Ability to make presentations
6. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions
7. Proficient in the use of basic computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
8. Demonstrated ability to compile, prepare, write and review reports
9. Strong analytical skills
10. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships (e.g. with student-athletes, coaches, faculty, staff, and the community) in a diverse environment
11. Ability to provide lead work direction

Preferred Qualifications

12. Advanced degree in a related field.
13. Two or more years’ experience working with NCAA Division I or II rules and experience providing interpretations and preparing waivers.
14. Experience working with Compliance Assistant Internet (CA), Legislative Services Database for the internet (LSDBi), Athletics Compliance Solution (ACS), and PeopleSoft.
15. Experience conducting training sessions for multiple groups.
16. Two or more years of experience in intercollegiate athletics at the NCAA Division I or the Division II level in the area of compliance.

The duties of this position include participation in decisions that may have a material financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore, the selected candidate will be required to file Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest when they first occupy the position, an on an annual basis, complete ethics training within 6 months of appointment, and attend this training every other year thereafter.
