Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Facilities Management, the Director of Administration (Administrator II) provides oversight and guidance for all financial activities (accounting, budget, procurement, and payroll) of the department in accordance with CSU and University policies and practices. The Director manages the development and on-going administration of the department budget, and provides analytical support, advice, and recommendations to the AVP and other administrators on matters of financial planning, budget development, and resource allocation. In addition, the Director is responsible for personnel management and provides oversight and guidance for all activities performed by the Information Technology Consultants and performs various administrative duties in support of the department.

FLSA MPP - This position is defined in the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) of the California State University. It is excluded from the collective bargaining process and is exempt from overtime provisions of FLSA. This position is covered by health benefits.

Department Information

Facilities Management is the steward for the University buildings, infrastructure, grounds and landscape. We perform maintenance and renovation to facilities, plan and manage new building construction and support the Redefine the Possible initiative through our commitment to building a welcoming campus and by creating a dynamic physical environment for students, faculty, staff, and the community.

Minimum Qualifications
Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or closely related field from an accredited university/college

2. Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, including providing leadership in the areas of accounting, forecasting/planning, budget development, payroll, resource allocation, and/or finance (e.g. in a large institutional environment).
3. Management or supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
4. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
5. Proficiency using standard office equipment and standard office software packages (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook calendar/mail).
6. Proficiency with complex enterprise systems and software, such as CSU Common Management System (CMS)/ PeopleSoft finance.
7. Knowledge of organizational structures and systems, and ability to understand, communicate and explain the application of complex policies and procedures related to finance, budget, accounting and administrative processes within those structures and systems
8. Ability to analyze, interpret, integrate, compile, apply, present and project financial data, and to produce and present complex reports
9. Ability to serve as key contact and technical budget advisor to others (e.g. resource analysts and high-level administrators across a division).

Preferred Qualifications

10. Experience working in a large institutional environment
11. Experience working at an institution of higher learning, preferably one within the California State University system
12. Experience with funding models, working with auxiliaries and not-for-profit entities
