Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of the Admissions & Outreach, the Admissions Evaluator is responsible for making admission and transfer credit decisions/evaluations; initiates the student academic record; accurately applies CSU and Sacramento State admission policies and practices to the admission decision making process; represents the University to the general public; advises prospective students, parents, and guidance personnel on admission and matriculation matters.

FLSA Non-Exempt - This position is covered by health benefits, and is non-exempt, (eligible for overtime compensation) according to the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of the format and interpretation of course records and transcripts of institutions of higher education; knowledge of authenticating course credits and comparing records of differing formats, such as foreign records; knowledge of campus curriculum requirements for majors, minors, terminal degrees, and special program designations, and knowledge of application of campus resource guidelines for making determinations using various criteria.
Ability to be thorough, consistent and accurate in the interpretation of records against criteria; ability to comprehend and interpret complex regulations or requirements and to apply them in the evaluation process; ability to maintain resources which document and update criteria; ability to explain criteria and evaluations to others; ability to make accurate records; ability to organize work to meet deadlines; ability to safeguard the confidentiality and security of records.
Equivalent to completion of a formal training program in academic records evaluation OR one year of academic records evaluation experience OR any 12-month combination of training and experience related to academic records evaluation.

5. Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills; independently applies judgment and nonstandard applications and systems, solving a wide range of problems, developing practicable and thorough solutions.
6. Strong customer service skills; ability to advise or inform the public, in person and on the phone, regarding status and/or eligibility and advising them of appropriate alternatives.

8. Knowledge of and ability to use mathematical computations
9. Ability to use high-level discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality in handling problems of sensitive nature and security of confidential records
10. Ability to work independently and possess self-direction skills to be able to initiate plans, organize, prioritize , multi-task, and coordinate work in a fast paced organization with competing priorities and distractions
11. Ability to work effectively and establish and maintain cooperative working relations with internal and external entities
12. Working knowledge of and ability to operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computer, laptop, copier, fax machine, scanner, and printer
13. Demonstrated proficiency in ability to effectively use common computer application programs and related computer software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, database, internet) in the course of assigned duties

Preferred Qualifications

14. Experience in the analysis and application of academic regulations and procedures related to admissions
15. Experience involving detailed work, including mathematical computations that require a high degree of accuracy
16. Familiarity with online resources (i.e., College Source, AACRAO and Assist) and the Common Management System (CMS) or other student administration data system.
17. Experience working in a high production environment.

Conflict of Interest

The duties of this position include participation in decisions that may have a material financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore, the selected candidate will be required to file Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest when they first occupy the position, an on an annual basis, complete ethics training within 6 months of appointment, and attend this training every other year thereafter.
