Hiring Department Summary

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Science is housed within the College of Health and Human Services. The Kinesiology program offers a Bachelor of Science degree with two concentrations of study in Exercise Science and Physical Education, a Master of Science with two concentrations of study (Exercise Science and Movement Studies), and a Personal Trainer/Strength and Conditioning Certificate. Two minor programs, Coaching and Supplementary Authorization in Physical Education, are also available.

Essential Duties

- Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Exercise Physiology, Molecular Skeletal Muscle Physiology or other courses in the Exercise Science program.
- Supervise master’s theses.
- Advise students.
- Develop a successful research and scholarly record.
- Serve on Department, College and University committees.
- Be active in community service relevant to teaching and research.
- Work as a cooperative member of the faculty.

Required Qualifications

Education
- PhD in Exercise Physiology with an emphasis in Molecular Skeletal Muscle Physiology. ABD candidates will be considered. If ABD, candidates will be required to complete the doctorate by August 2018.
- A strong academic background necessary to teach undergraduate and graduate Exercise Physiology and Molecular Skeletal Muscle Physiology courses (Applied/Clinical/Theoretical)
- Record of scholarship in Exercise Physiology or Molecular Skeletal Muscle Physiology.

Preferred Qualifications

-Postdoctoral experience in Molecular Skeletal Muscle Physiology with a scholarship record of exercise on molecular skeletal muscle physiology. Scholarly focus must include the effects of exercise on skeletal muscle adaptive response and one or more of the following areas: mitochondrial biogenesis, molecular basis for skeletal muscle hypertrophy, skeletal muscle signaling, muscle metabolism, human performance/ disease prevention/ rehabilitation/ & aging.
- A record of effective undergraduate and graduate level university teaching experience.
- A record of peer reviewed publications and external grants.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
- Ability to work with graduate students through thesis supervision.
- Knowledge of assessment/accreditation (ACSM) of exercise science programs
